GORDON BOND AS SHILOH

Sized 16”x20” with only the background roughed in.

The Stetson roughed in with a dark brown base.

The Stetson worked over with the color to make the hat look black as it was in the photographic reference. The face was roughed in. There are still several hours left yet to go in that area.

Close-up of the face that shows more of the details, character lines and blending. The cowboy has been cleaned up some, more blending and a more finished look.

 Bandana roughed in...
Another 2-3 hours of detailing the face and all the cloth of the shirt and vest was roughed in.

More shading of the folds, blends and details in the seams of the shirt and vest have been worked. The badge has also been completed.

This shot shows his chain which has the “S.A.S.S.” logo attached. It is a great-looking western man but on the other end is his “pocket” watch. And lastly, the item in Gordon’s lower vest pocket is his half-full pouch of “Levi Garrett” chewing tobacco. How “western” is that! The last few things to complete this piece were more details to the folds and shadows in his vest. The chain and clip were then completed and the background re-touched. Lastly, beard stubble and more hair was added that laid out over the background.

GORDON BOND AS.....GORDON BOND!

We made the 18 mile trip to Land Of Lakes, Florida to let Gordon and his great family see the painting "up close and personal." Gordon asked to have his picture taken with the piece. You can see, even in real life, his face has so much character...I had to add nothing.

Gordon and his wife Arby invited Leigh and I to one of the most fantastic cookouts. The main dish was Gordon's famous "smoked turkey," and all the trimmings. It was fantastic! Thanks to the "Bonds" for a wonderful Sunday afternoon.
